Del Webb Edgewater vs. Sun City

Last night we had some friends over for dinner.  Our friends are both in their forties; his parents are both 70.  His parents have lived in the same house in St. Charles for 42 years and they have started looking at making the move to a smaller, more manageable, maintenance-free place.  Our conversation focused on Del Webb's Edgewater community in El gin and, of course, our very own Sun City Huntley.  They had settled on a model (the Belmont at Edgewater, known as the Potomac in Sun City).  The primary difference between the two communities, besides location is that in Edgewater all of the homes are single family. In Sun City, the club home series are on smaller lots, where one side of the house is just 6 feet from the next.  By the city's, and some Pulte employees, definition these are classified as "duplexes" despite the fact that they share no common wall or any other elements except for a small footing near the front of the foundation.  When we were building, we were actually told that they were on a "shared slab," which we discovered wasn't true during the building process.  Additionally, Edgewater has fewer amenities (no golf course, no restaurant), but does include all exterior maintenance and some inside features as standard that are upgrades at Sun City.

I'm not sure what our friends' parents decided, but I know they left our home feeling more educated and at ease about their decision.  If you need information about any neighborhood, please give me a call at 630-728-6051 and I would be happy to share my finding and thoughts with you!
